Awards, Quality & Accreditation

Award-winning excellence! SMHC physicians and staff provide care that is among the nation's best. Accreditation is a distinction given to SMHC when its performance meets or exceeds standards and quality expectations.

A for Patient Safety

SMHC received an “A” grade in the Fall  2022 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, a national distinction recognizing MMC’s achievements protecting patients from errors, injuries, accidents and infections. This rating demonstrates how focused our care team is on providing a safe place for patients to come to for their health care. The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization committed to health care quality and safety. The Safety Grade is updated every six months. It is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospitals’ prevention of medical errors and other harms to patients in their care. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.
