Michael Hersey, PT, SCS, CSCS
Mike received a degree in Physical Therapy from the University of New England. He is one of four American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) board-certified sports specialists in the state of Maine. Mike is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and he has been certified as an ImPACT™ Trained Physical Therapist in concussion management. He was one of the first physical therapists in the country named to the U.S. Olympic Sports Medicine Team when he worked with the U.S. Snowboard Team in Torino, Italy. In 2006, Mike was presented with APTA’s President’s Award. He has been on the sidelines covering local school sports for more than 15 years. Mike works with physicians and athletic trainers using a team approach to rehabilitation, enabling individuals to maximize their sport performance and prevent injury.
Rick Sirois, MS, ATC, LAT, CSCS, CSAC
Rick received a degree in Athletic Training from the University of New England and a master’s degree in Athletic Training from the California University of Pennsylvania. He is licensed and certified as an athletic trainer through the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He also recently completed a Certified Speed and Agility Coach certification through Athlete’s Acceleration. In addition, Rick is an ImPACT™ Certified Athletic Trainer treating individuals returning from concussion. Rick designs individualized performance enhancement programs for athletes, weekend warriors, at-risk populations and for the general fitness population. His background in Sports Medicine and injury evaluation / rehabilitation enables Rick to address specific physical impairments and design programs to achieve solid results, allowing his clients to attain their athletic development, functional training, health, and wellness goals.
Anthony Arsenault, PTA
Physical Therapist Assistant
Anthony received his degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant from Kennebec Valley Community College. He has worked in various disciplines within the physical therapy field over the past 6 years, including home health care, skilled nursing, and sports medicine / outpatient services. These experiences enable Anthony to deliver quality of care to individuals of various ages and ailments. Anthony works with physical therapists, athletic trainers and strength and conditioning specialists delivering a team approach to rehabilitation, allowing individuals to reach functional goals and to maximize their recovery.
Michael "Tony" Giordano Jr., ATC, LAT
Tony received his degree in Athletic Training from the University of Southern Maine. He is a Certified Athletic Trainer and is licensed in the state of Maine. Tony has been working with student athletes at Thornton Academy since the spring of 2011. He has also been a preceptor for the Athletic Training Education Programs of the University of New England and the University of Southern Maine since 2010.
Kaitlyn McCarter, ATC, LAT
Kate received her degree in Athletic Training from the University of New England. She is licensed and certified as an Athletic Trainer through the National Athletic Trainers’ Association as well as an ImPACT™ Trained Athletic Trainer through ImPACT Applications. Kate uses her training in Sports Medicine to provide health care to local middle school and high school athletes participating in athletics through a coordinated team approach with physicians, physical therapists, and fellow athletic trainers. Kate also currently serves as the Chair of the Maine Athletic Trainers’ Association Young Professionals’ Committee.
Amy McManus, DPT, CSCS
Physical Therapist and Strength and Conditioning Specialist
Amy received a doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of New England. She is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Amy has focused her career on sports injury and post-operative rehabilitation and enjoys addressing postural and biomechanical abnormalities that may lead to pain and dysfunction. Her experience and interest in these areas allow for comprehensive treatment of all types of injuries to get the patient back to pre-injury level as soon as possible.
Emily Koehler, MS, CSCS, USAW-1
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist
Emily received a Master of Science Degree from Springfield College. She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association as well as USAW Level 1 Coach through USA Weightlifting. Emily has worked as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at College of the Holy Cross, University of Connecticut, and Springfield College. Emily is also a former collegiate athlete who understands how to prepare all ages for athletics and life.
Emily Lodge, PT, DPT
Emily received a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of New England in 2016. Emily also has clinical experiences in home health, inpatient care, and outpatient physical therapy. She takes a special interest in orthopedic and sports injuries, utilizing comprehensive, holistic, and patient-centered care to return the patient to prior level of functioning and to prevent re-injury.
Jessie Hobgood, ATC, LAT
Jessie received a degree in Athletic Training from the University of Southern Maine. She is licensed and certified as an Athletic Trainer through the National Athletic Trainer’s Association Board of Certification, and is an ImPACT Trained Athletic Trainer (ITAT). Jessie has been working with student-athletes at Sanford Public Schools since the fall of 2008, and serves as a preceptor for Athletic Training Students at both the University of Southern Maine and the University of New England.
Arin Auger, ATC, LAT, Advanced EMT
Arin received her degree in Athletic Training from Colby-Sawyer College. She is a Certified Athletic Trainer and a licensed Advanced EMT in the state of Maine. Arin has been working with Middle and High School Athletes for the last six years. Arin is also a Preceptor for the Athletic training programs of the University of New England and the University of Southern Maine.
